The US has imposed a ban on imports from China’s Xinjiang region.
Strict new US regulations have been imposed on imports from China’s Xinjiang region.
Under the law, firms have to prove that imports from the region are not generated through forced labor.
U.S. officials say members of the region’s minority Uighur community, mostly Muslims, have been detained and put to work.
China has repeatedly denied allegations that it is holding Uighurs in concentration camps in Xinjiang.
Many imports from the resource-rich region, including cotton and tomatoes, have already been banned from the United States.
Under the Uighur Forced Labor Prevention Act (UFLPA), restrictions on all imports will be increased, effective Tuesday.
