Arsenal are running out of time to bolster their squad this summer as the transfer window closes on Thursday night

Arsenal may have made a flying start to the new Premier League season, but some supporters believe there is more work to be done in the summer transfer window.

Now, Gunners manager Mikel Arteta and technical director Edu don’t have much time left to add to the signings of Gabriel Jesus, Oleksandr Zinchenko, Fabio Vieira, Matt Turner and Marquinhos as the window slams shut on Thursday night, but it’s likely that the pair will be busy all the way up until deadline day.

If we

can implement the plan that we have, we will try to do [it]. In that plan, that [Pepe leaving] was something that could happen,” Arteta told reporters when asked if Arsenal are on the market to replace Nicolas Pepe who has joined Ligue 1 outfit OGC Nice on loan for the remainder of the season.

“Now it is a reality and we have been preparing the last two months in order to achieve what we want. Whether that is possible or not, we will see.”

Since the Gunners last signed a player – Zinchenko on July 22 – the focus has been on outgoings with Nuno Tavares, Bernd Leno, Lucas Torreira, Pepe, Runar Alex Runarsson and Pablo Mari among the senior members of the squad to have departed either on loan or on a permanent transfer and we

with Ainsley Maitland-Niles being offered to Southampton, in addition to Hector Bellerin still being linked with a return to Real Betis – with whom he enjoyed a successful loan spell last season – there could be more players leaving the Emirates Stadium before the transfer window closes.

This demand comes after Oleksandr Zinchenko and Thomas Partey missed the 2-1 win over Fulham on Saturday evening as their absences prompted concern about the squad depth at Arteta’s disposal which could be solved with a double transfer swoop in the coming days.
