Ralph Rangink will not be retaining his consultant role at Manchester United next season.

The German, who took over the interim charge of United in November, said he had made the decision because of demands for his new role as manager of Austria.

Ranginak led United to their worst season in the Premier League, as they finished sixth with 58 points and zero goals.

The club said in a statement: “We would like to thank Ralph Ranginik for his efforts as interim manager over the last six months.

“By mutual agreement, Ralph will now focus entirely on his new role as manager of the Austrian national team and therefore will not be taking on the role of consultant at Old Trafford.
