American support for Somalia
During his visit to Somalia’s Under Secretary for Political Affairs Victoria Noland, Mogadishu, President Hassan Sheikh Mahmood offered US assistance for his security, reconciliation, and reform agenda. The under-secretary also expressed US support for the Somali and African Union-led counter-terrorism efforts.

As Somalia faces devastating drought and food insecurity conditions, under -secretary Noland organized a round table with a special envoy to Abdulrahman Abdeshkor Warsaw and UN agencies in Somalia, including which The Food and Agricultural Organization, UNICEF, and the World Food Program. The under-secretary plans to provide immediate food, famine prevention, and other humanitarian aid to Somalia, as part of about $ 105 million in new humanitarian aid to Horne of Africa for Somalia.
